Welcome and thank you for visting Tom Lucero for Congress!

This is one of the most critical times in our nation's history—the very core of what this country stands for is at risk. The America that we were brought up to know and love is one where we all have the freedom and opportunity to pursue our own dreams. Through hard work, that can-do spirit, and individual responsibility, we have the opportunity to succeed—and also to fail on occasion. We reap the rewards of our successes, and we pick ourselves back up when necessary. And we help our family, neighbors and those in our community who need it. We don’t look for bailouts or handouts, and we don’t expect the government to take care of everything for us.

We must bring back the fundamental values of hard-working Americans to Washington, D.C. and return to our foundational principles of: liberty, free enterprise, and limited government. These are the values that have made this country the greatest in the world.  It is time we elected leaders to Congress with more real world experience who are grounded in these values and principles. I am running for Congress to fight hard to clean up Washington D.C., hold career politicians accountable, and stop those who are taking us down the road to socialism.

Constitutional conservativism, as outlined in The Mount Vernon Statement provides a perfect summary of my political beliefs and values.

I was raised in a working-class household by a single mother who chose a path of independence over dependence. Through her perseverance to overcome tragedy and adversity, I was ingrained with these values at a young age. Yet, I later saw an educational system that dismissed and often despised many of our shared conservative values. I truly believe that education remains one of our most important issues today—it is a key foundation to the ingenuity that drives our economic growth and it is fundamental to a free society. For those reasons, I have served on the University of Colorado Board of Regents for the past eleven years, fighting among other things to expand classes on America's founding history and principles as well as to remove “professors” like Ward Churchill.

As a small-businessman, I have seen firsthand the unintended consequences of legislation and the incredible challenges of starting and running a business. With record debt and unemployment over ten percent at the hands of lawyers, career politicians, and appointed ‘czars’, the time to take our country back is now.

I believe the founding fathers intended that citizens would step away from their private lives to serve their country temporarily, and not become career politicians. They envisioned a Congress that would keep the interests of the country and their fellow citizens above their own re-election or personal gain. Congress should work for the people, not the other way around.

Please review this site, attend an event so we can meet in person, or contact me. I would like the opportunity to earn your support. Thank you for visiting and for your consideration. Above all, thank you for taking your time as a concerned citizen.

Respectfully yours,

Tom Lucero,
University of Colorado Board of Regents
Republican Candidate for U.S. Congress, 4th Congressional District of Colorado

LUCERO PLEDGES TO CO-SPONSOR AN ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RESOLUTION WHEN ELECTED

In seeking to represent the citizens of Fourth Congressional District I am fully cognizant that it will be my responsibility to represent Colorado at its very best.    Our state has carved out an extraordinary record of challenging ethnic cleansings.  As a Colorado University Regent, I pressed for a resolution that was adopted by the entire board directing the University's mutual-fund advisors to eliminate Sudanese energy-sector companies from the portfolio.

LUCERO TOUTS CONSERVATIVE CREDENTIALS

LONGMONT —Tom Lucero said Tuesday that if he’s elected to Congress, he wouldn’t compromise his conservative Republican principles, even if pressured to do so by GOP leaders. "Part of the reason the Republicans got tossed out" of their majority control of Congress, he said, "is that we got the power and then we behaved like Democrats." During a Tuesday night campaign event at the Izaak Walton Park clubhouse here, Lucero — a University of Colorado regent — said he’d demonstrated his independence by occasionally being the sole dissenter in 8-1 votes by CU’s governing board members.
